I AM..NAITO SEN
JINSHIN NO KUNI, IWAYAGAKURE
Age: thirteen
Rank: advanced genin
Position: Kunoichi
Clan/Bloodline: Naito family
FEMALE
STATUS
single, heterosexual
STATUS
single, heterosexual
Physical Appearance:
HEIGHT: 160 cm/ 5"3
WEIGHT: 110 lbs/ 50 kg
EYE COLOUR: brown
HAIR COLOUR: black
Sen appears to be no more average in appearance than her shinobi abilities. The young kunoichi has insignificant features, with fair skin, often unblemished or touched by the sun, warm brown eyes that never fluctuate or change, and raven-black hair that gleams dully in the sunlight. She stands at an average--if not small--height for her age, at around 160 centimeters. She appears to be slight, with a rather curvy figure for her age group, if not somewhat "chesty"--as much of an annoyance as it may be to her. She is likely at full height, and probably weight, having already grown into her features prematurely.
Sen has thin, narrow lips, a pointed chin, and high cheekbones, often flushed from general insecurities, or exertion. While she still seems to hold some of her childishness, her naivete readily reflected in her careful brown eyes, when she smiles--hesitant and uncertain--she seems to take an appearance similar to that of her older siblings, or her mother. Her grandmother scolds her often and tells her to smile more, else she'll look miserable and pensive all her life.
Clothing:
Daily, Sen looks as much of a scholar as she can be; she wears simple clothing, nothing to expressive. High socks that come to her knees, a pleated skirt, similar to that of what she wears in training, leather shoes, and a white blouse. Occasionally, weather permitting, she'll wear a sun hat to keep any blemishes from her pale skin.
When she is on a mission, or in training, she exchanges those clothes for something more suitable and pliable--sandals that come to around mid-ankle, rather short blue shorts, a white t-shirt, and a brown vest made of a thick yet supple fabric that is open against her t-shirt, but strapped around her mid-section. She straps her headband around her neck, which is often thrown aside in movement. She straps her weapon's pack around her waist smartly, keeping it secured on the right side in order to access it quickly and efficiently.
Distinguishing Marks:
The only significant feature would be her thin, silver spectacles; aside from that, Sen has no piercings, tattoos, or visible birthmarks, freckles, or moles.

Let me think about that ...

"This is the story of a girl/ who cried a river and drowned the whole world/ and though she looked so sad in photographs/ I absolute love it when she smiles"
Likes:
- organization - when things are organized, they run efficiently; when things run efficiently, it makes it easier to think and strategize
- white noise - it allows her to drown out the world, without feeling completely alone; in some ways, it helps her think easier
- animals - she is no fanatic, but she enjoys the company of an animal, especially cats and birds. They have no opinions, and act clearly on instinct; they don't judge, or have expectations (minus food and attention every once and a while).
- heights - although a common fear of many, and one previously of hers, she finds she likes heights. They are devoid of limitation, and climb higher into the sky.
- fruit - the healthiest way to satisfy her sweet tooth. Especially enjoys kiwi, berries, and peaches.
- reading - although she is well aware that reading is only a cliche of her obvious "intelligent, nerd" appearance, she enjoys reading because it means that information, in whatever form, is presented in front of her. Being most logical, and a visual learner, she likes to read best because it allows her to absorb her information at her own pace.
Dislikes:
- conceit, obnoxiousness, pretentiousness - Simply because Sen dislikes how her father can act this way, and tries not to act this way herself, she tends to develop dislike for people who act this way. No matter their excuse -- whether it be brains, wealth, or insecurity -- she believes that no one needs to act in such a spoiled way.
- things outside her comfort zone - of course it'd scare anyone. Although she likes to fantasize about doing crazy things, Sen would never venture to do something that is not in her place. Anything she hasn't tried because she is suspicious and very cautious of, and spends a lot of time mulling over the situation and how she feels about it.
- expressing emotions - Sen is not a strong girl; things make her cry easily; she cannot withstand harsh words or physical pain. However, Sen tries to suppress these things until she is alone, as she feels that expressing her emotions, or confiding in others, is a burden; it provides no natural merit to it, and would only be shoving her problems onto someone else to complain. Because of this, she appears to be a very well thought out girl, and very private.
- money - money feeds greed, not an actual, physical need. Money, in turn, creates poverty, and wealth; it also frays relationships and fashions false ones. And, being born to a family where money relies on everything that is done, she cannot help but hate it, though she knows that, if she wants to succeed, she must obtain money.
Personality:
Sen is of a sharp-mind. Her father jokingly tells her that she has a "wealthy mind, richer than a thousand yen." While he finds this exceedingly funny, Sen appears not to have inherited any of such humour from either of her parents.
Sen is often resigned and private, never truly taking matters into her own hands unless invited into a conversation. She speaks timidly and hesitantly, but her intelligence is quite evident in her mannerisms and speech. Until she grows exceedingly comfortable with a group, a smile or gesture of comfort is seldom witnessed, until she feels ready to open up a little more. Her humour is somewhat like a child -- if the atmosphere is comfortable, then she will thrive.
The thirteen-year-old is ill-prepared for the dangers that lay ahead on the "road of life", having very little knowledge of men, adulthood, or life in general. The most she truly understands is that nothing is ever easy, and even then, she tries to avoid any conflict or confrontation if she can. She is level-headed and reasonable, and prefers negotiation -- obviously an inherited trait from the Naito family -- over actual combat. She is not arrogant, yet is not subtle in her ways either: her expressions and emotions are clearly written on her face, no matter how nervous and reluctant she may be about expressing them -- she can't help it, and can hardly control her emotions and expressions; her heart is clearly "written on her sleeve". She is not a master of deception or torture like most other women. Her grandmother constantly expresses the need for her to "play hard to get"."It's the reason you don't have a man of your own, yet," the old woman sniffs. Although she may not be particularly exuberant -- and sometimes may not seem that she's entirely there -- when she offers up her trademark, hesitant, careful smile, one can be certain that she is attempting to act as friendly as she can manage.
By nature, though, Sen is a Naito. She makes decisions often based on the benefit of them, and has been taught since the earliest of her years to ignore what the "heart" wants, and listen to what the mind thinks. Because of this, Sen finds herself stuck in a very conflicting situation a lot of the time. Her heart is naive, and carries her to a place where it is comfortable. A place where things are fanciful and bright, and content; her mind tells her to be quick-witted and bold, and to go where opportunity best suits her, not to sit by idly where she knows she won't get hurt. Because of this, Sen's naivete and insecurity lead her to be quite obedient and easily ruled around. If someone is telling her mind to do something, she tends often to do it. The benefit in a team situation is that she follows orders. But if she is told not to stray from orders, than she does very little of that; if plans fall apart, Sen is let scrambling, trying to figure out something that still sticks to the plan, despite what her mind is capable of.
History:
Sen was born into a family of brains. This family believed in quality and quantity. Sen was the third child of five to enter into the ways of shinobi, both parents being excluded from the matter. However, their father had encouraged the "career", speaking highly of an acquaintance of his -- one who he handled the bills of -- that made quite a lot of money due to his healthy reputation amongst the village's higher-ups, and his hard-working determination. Sen, being the middle child of five, watched her older brothers Nari and Kouza graduate from the academy two years prior to the time that she finally reached graduation age. She was more or less thrown into the whole affair with little thought of what she might like. Her mother and grandmother had cleverly convinced her that exercise would be good--and was well-needed--for her body.
"Not to mention," her grandmother chided, "you'll find yourself a strong man and have a stable, secure--and most importantly --wealthy family."
Sen obeyed despite her greater wishes, and buried herself in her studies so as to do her family and her brothers proud. Her younger twin siblings, a sister named Kikinzoku and a brother named Kinmanka, held her in high esteem, her sister especially watching proudly as Sen graduated.
"You were practically the only girl! And the prettiest of them all!" she squealed, foully sticking out her tongue at another female graduate as she passed by the pair. Sen ignored such compliments and soon found herself placed in a new squad with new people, more insecure about her abilities everyday.
She didn't use her brains like she knew she could, and instead decided to resign to remaining on the sidelines, and allowing her comrades surpass her. She trained harder with the abilities she was comfortable with, too afraid to try new things for fear of what the consequences may be -- especially failure. These feelings grew even stronger after a first mission away from the village where Sen almost drowned. Some passerby's who had witnessed the entire affair only giggled at the girl's misfortune, laughing at the irony of the situation. "A shinobi and she can't even swim!"
After this especially traumatic experience, Sen reverted farther away, trying hard to hide her insecurities but failing miserably. She drifted through each day with hardly a smile as her comrades began pulling farther and farther ahead of her, learning new techniques and perfecting old ones that she hardly had a grasp on.
Her brother Kouza, who had since been promoted to a chuunin commander, drew her aside after witnessing a particularly "terrible training session" as he put it -- though Sen couldn't differentiate the difference between that day's training session and any other day -- Kouza decided it was about time that she actually learned something to the full extent of her abilities.
"You have a brain," he grunted, jabbing at her head, "now let's put it to use."
From his pocket he produced a piece of which paper -- translucent against his skin slightly as he held it, reminding Sen almost of a craft she'd made when younger. She blinked at it, then quirked her eyebrow in bewilderment. "Paper?"
"Not just any kind of paper," he said, closing his eyes. "Watch." He advised. Sen did just as he'd commanded, her fascination ebbing away with every moment they waited. Finally, he opened his eyes, and held it up in the air, in front of Sen's nose. She noticed it was dripping slightly, having become soggy.
"How did you--?" she broke off, looking expectantly at her brother for the answers, like she had done so often as a child. He grinned knowingly-- a trademark expression -- and discarding his piece of paper, pulled out another.
"I'm water-natured," he said. "Let's see your type."
Imagine Sen's surprise, the irony of the entire situation when she discovered that she, too, was a suiton-user. She looked up with slight disgust etched into her features, but her brother's reassuring pat told her it was nothing to be afraid of.
From then on, Sen trained with her brother after hours in the ways of the water element. The techniques that she learned made her feel pride for the first time in forever about her abilities. She realized that her grasp of the concepts was coming quickly to her -- as her brother also pointed out. She realized that her lack of talent in ninjutsu and taijutsu and genjutsu were compensated by her mind. She went back to training more and more comfortable each day, and no longer was the burden to the team, but rather became an asset.
Before her brother left for a mission that was far away in another village -- as part of a special unit comprised specially for the mission -- he gave Sen a katana. "This," he said, "is called Hogosha. Use it -- or, him, her, I dunno -- well. I had it specially made. It has this cool little thing it does if every you find yourself in trouble."
Sen wasn't sure how it worked, but she realized that her brother wasn't kidding. During a mission, when she'd been separated from formation and singled out. Her abilities weren't as strong as the others to maneuver out of a situation, and her chakra was lacking -- she couldn't even muster up a simple D-rank jutsu. She yanked Hogosha from its position, and suddenly, as the her opponent attempted to throw a kunai at her -- the sword let forth an attack. A burst of light from from all side of the sword, and the kunai fell to the ground, as though it were nothing more than a toy. The sword had the ability to store her chakra for later use. And, when she was in danger, it somehow knew -- thus releasing the chakra in a torrent, almost -- a shield of defense.
Thankful for this, Sen managed to flee because of her opponents confusion, and regrouped. The mission was successful. For once, she wasn't the burden.
Nowadays, Sen lies in wait -- or training, as its called -- with her teammates. The pair of them have proven to be unique in their own sense, and although still insecure at the best of times, Sen knows that no matter what she is somehow protected. Always.
She continues to train in the hopes of mastering a B-ranked jutsu at some point soon. And, hopefully, becoming a chuunin.

Special Abilities:
none listed or known as of yet that seem to be of any significance; appears to be average, dissimilar from the next shinobi, no particular techniques or maneuvers that have proved to be unique or special.
Outside of her "career", however, Sen has quite the mind for numbers. She can easily calculate numbers in her head with ease, like it's second nature to her, like breathing. Her sharp mind also allows her to put it to use in trying situations, and to think quickly. Because of this, in training situations she can learn both by example and theoretically, and can quickly harbour any knowledge and use it to her advantage. Sen doesn't, however, often let this ability show through, and tends to carry on rather quietly in her own manner.
Techniques: A list of techniques, hopefully, organized. Place the jutsu here according to its rank. [/blockquote]
