The Slugging Slugger Will Slug You Sluggishly Saturn had been assigned a mission from this godless village, he wore the headband so that he would not be killed by those known as his allies, but it was hanging out of his back pocket, not the best place but he didn't care, it deserved none of his pride. He was having an off day, there seemed to be nothing really worth nothing. He knew that this was going to be a weird mission though, he could have sworn they were trying to kill him though, sending him into a mine field? Were they fucking kidding or something? He knew Lord Seijin would have never allowed this, children playing with mines was a horrible idea. How primitive these people were he did not know but it was starting to annoy him. He had been rather angsty since his unfortunate split from his great lord and master. The man who had made him who he was was gone, things were not going well.
He by no means lost faith in his lord, but more so just believes this to be a test he must pass. He was not happy about it though because it had been a year now and nothing had changed, this village was a horrible place to be, or at least it seemed like it. He had heard of the other villages but as of now he was not able to even really leave the village much because they needed to keep their precious cargo safe. He was currently the only person with a sealed beast and the only person who after a while of training was starting to understand his beast a little better. Over their almost year now of communication on a daily basis the two of them had their issues but they had come to some sort of understanding. The two did not like each other by any means but it appeared as though Saiken was beginning to lighten up a bit since Saturn never wanted to hurt, only heal with his medical ninjutsu.
Even so, Saturn was going on a mission with a boy from the Kaguya Clan, he remembers this clan from when things were as they were. Even so, that was then and this was now, he had to be able to come into this new time and do his best in order to survive. When his god was satisfied with him he would bring him back, he knows it's true. The kind of things that he thought he might have to do though was shocking. He did not plan on dying in this place, this Kirigakure would not be his end but a new beginning. Even without his fire he was still a phoenix, rising from the ashes, moist ashes maybe but damn it if he was not trying to make this analogy work. He had gotten to the place where the two of them were going to start. He looked at the boy with a sickly look on his face, he knew he looked sick as a dog but he always seemed to have a cold nowadays. Never ending.

Nnngh.
Kuso rubbed his eyes with his spoon hand, while the other held tightly onto his carved melon. The sun hurt the boy's eyes as he trudged onward through the brightly hued path. It wasn't this often that the near-constant mist that engulfed the village would suddenly give like so early in the morning; Kuso's eyes had become too adjusted to the grey-stained world he was raised in. This world just had too much detail. What was worse was the god damned sunlight blaring down from above. How could anyone bear this?
The trees on either side of him began to spread out as he moved on, becoming more and more sparse. Must be getting close to the minefield, he thought.
Oh, that's right. Today, Kuso was given a mission involving the disarming and collecting of mines all across a barren field. It was reported that a great number of them were still active, to make matters even more fun. As awesome as the idea sounded to test out the boy's searching-and-retrieval skills, he wasn't too fond of having to do the actual disarming part. Meh, whatever. Maybe his partner would be a sensor or something and could simply change a seal or something on them.
And maybe Kuso could just sit back and enjoy his breakfast while he or she worked. Yeah, that'd be awesome. He took a scoop of his sweet fruit into his maw.
Finally, a figure came into view. It was a fiery haired boy, with an expression mirroring that of a dying man's agony. What does that mean, one may ask? He looked like he was about to fucking vomit, Kuso would answer. There was nobody else around, though; he must be his partner for the day. Awesome.
"You here for the mines?" he would ask loudly, closing the distance between the two. Again, another spoonful of melon would be eaten.

The Slugging Slugger Will Slug You Sluggishly Saturn was waiting for his partner to get out into here and help him disarm these mines. He wondered why or how these things were supposed to work. He had been taught before hand but now he had to find them. He had heard that in total there were about 12 of these lying around... they thought. He wasn't really sure what to think of everything though, he was trying to put his mind out of the situation, then again he had been trying to put his mind out of everything recently, there felt like there was no point in even worrying about the current situation or about the fact that he was in the wrong time. The situation he was in though, especially with his partner never meeting him before, he had to wonder if this was going to end quite like he had suspected. While his interest dwindled in his partner though, more at the task at hand.
How in the world were they supposed to find a bunch of hidden mines? It seemed silly when one thought about it because it very simply didn't really do much for him. He had no ability to find these mines yet there they were. He was looking over at the boy, wondering what was going on but for the moment he needed to just try and get the conversation going, otherwise he might be in trouble. He noticed the way he spoke was a little different than those from this area, must have been a regional thing or something but it sounded more refined, a slightly different english that appeared to simply sound different than here.
"We need to find them... Do you know how?"

The carrot-topped boy that would be his partner for this supposedly easy mission finally spoke. Damn, his illness was not only present in his appearance. His voice seemed to carry a soft droll of a cold behind it. Why was someone in his condition doing a mission, let alone being let out of his bed?
But his words had dropped a bombshell on Kuso. The boy dropped his spoon and melon.
So wait. Just...wait. The Mizukage sent two Genin on a mission to find and disarm as many of the bombs as they could, and bring them back to the village. However, they didn't count on the fact that neither of the two boys had any way to sense where the mines could be?
Kirigakure certainly has fallen upon hard times.
"...Don't tell me you have no idea either. Please...just don't."
Kuso kicked the dirt around his feet, snorting quietly like a frustrated bull. Well that's just super. The two were expected to just dig with their bare hands and pray to any and all deities that what they would be prodding wouldn't be a highly dangerous explosive? Sounds like the perfect job for teenagers.
He popped his neck, and rolled his head back with a sigh. Oh well, being whiny about it won't get the job done any faster. Maybe something positive? Yeah, that may work. No, no don't just think it. Say it. You have a partner now, okay?
Kuso turned towards his partner, obeying the voice in his head.
"I suppose we should just get started or something. Got a kunai?" [/style] |

The Slugging Slugger Will Slug You Sluggishly Saturn had to look towards the boy, though it appeared as though neither of them were really going to be worth much in this mission. He had no idea why they would seriously ask the two of them to do this when neither of them were really going to do this. His giant slug monster was not exactly going to be doing him much for this, it was not like he was going to be able to lather the bombs in sluggery and disarm them or something. He honestly could not even begin to formulate how he would manage this task. Neither of them were very useful. He had to wonder what this was going to mean though, he had to admit he was worried about this situation. bombs were not exactly his forte and yet he was going to need to He felt as though there was something wrong here, he knew there had to be more to this mission, something they were missing.
He seriously doubted it though.
He had sat down on the ground, not really sure what this was all going to mean but he was not about to give this mine field a chance. He had pulled out one of his Kunai and threw it over towards the guy. He grabbed his own Kunai and waited for instruction from his partner. He was not really in the mood or in the feeling to lead. Sadly almost he began to hack away, his throat becoming clogged with mucus as his cheeks went green, an onset of nausea from gyrating as a cause of convulsing from the cough. So basically his cough was causing his nausea, awesome. His already sunken face didn't make him look any better, he looked like he could be passing out at any moment. Still he felt like this all the time, it was now a simple fact of his life. He knew that this was going to be interesting, especially if his new partner left him here, it was certainly possible.
"So... what can you do? Any cool jutsu?"
He didn't ask because he was actually interested in what the guy had to say. He suspected the guy used water style techniques like most everyone else in this stupid city. It appeared as though he was interested though, he mostly did it to get them to talk and so that he wouldn't have to deal with this awkwardly. Power was a good place to start though, talking about what you could do was fun subject to discuss. He would never reveal this monster though, everyone who knew this was certainly not a good situation. It was awkward to talk about, but at least he had his medical ninjutsu otherwise. It made his life easier, since it made him seem like a good person, a caring person though ironic considering his constant sickness.

Kuso turned away form his partner and grimaced. A whole day of digging in the dirt. No, not just digging in the dirt; it was potentially fatal digging in the dirt. That must be the staple for anything a shinobi does nowadays.
The worst part about it all was the fact the two would have to be salvaging the explosives. If they were only to rid the field of them, then an explosive tag or two could get the job done in a second. Nothing can be easy, can it?.
A sharp singing of an airborne blade had caught Kuso's especially sharp ears just as it had been thrown. He needed not eyes to know where it was headed towards. His hand darted behind his back, snatching the kunai by its handle before it would have sunk into the fifteen year old flesh of his back.
The boy sighed, spinning the kunai about the loop at its end for a moment before catching it again, its blade peeking proudly between the spinning finger and his thumb.
"Let's get to work, I suppose."
He had a simple idea as to how the duo would play minesweeper without setting the buggers off. It wasn't very conventional, but may just get the job done.
Yes indeed, this plan would serve as their best bet to finding the burried explosives; a remarkable strategy that could only be thought up by the Genin genius of the Hidden Mist. Such a ingenius shinobi, Kuso was-
He realized that several seconds had passed as he imagined himself being the god of coolness. The boy shook his head to clear his thoughts. This plan of his would be even better were he to actually share it with his partner, no doubt.
Kuso turned towards the orange-haired boy of ill.
"These things were burried here, right? I think if we poke around with these blades for patches of earth softer than its surroundings, we can at least try to pinpoint where they may be."
Huh. This mission really was easy.
After a while, his partner had asked of him a question. What were his cool jutsu? The boy's ego was screaming to tell him everything, but then again, this is the life of a shinobi. A life of a shinobi is a life of secrecy, just like that of a magician's. Essentially, shinobi are like magicians.
Kuso the genius, everyone.
He would just tell the boy things that everyone else should or would probably know about him.
"I, uh, can learn jutsu on the spot or something. I don't know. I did it alot during the Academy. You?" [/style] |
