The clouds over Ranpugakure were dark today. But Remy paid them no mind as he walked casually through the streets to the Lords Compound. He had been summoned and he had a pretty good idea why. He still couldn’t believe it… been though it wasn’t his fault and there was nothing eh could have done given the orders he had, he still couldn’t believe it. His heart was broken, for the loss of his master.
Itachi, the previous lord of the village had died, not long ago, and it had been hard on Remy, who saw Itachi as a close brother or father figure. Oh well, he had to maintain face for the village. He was after all one of the highest ranking shinobi within the walls, and if he was broken, then who would be strong for the people? He couldn’t leave that burden souly on the new lord. He rounded a corner and entered the courtyard for the great building, looking up at it under the rim of his hat. He knew what this meeting was about….
He was shown to the door of the newly appointed Ranpu Ladies office by her assistant, who opened the door and announced his arrival, leaving and shutting the door behind her. Leaving Remy in the office with his new boss….. He took a knee and lowered his head, placing a fist on the ground, ”You wished to see me my lady?”

Golden eyes gazed out of the window staring at the land that she had just been given the responsibility to protect with her life. Until now the village had remained hidden from the rest of the world. Not the level of ‘hidden’ as the others, but truly a mystery to the world. Itachi, the previous Lord of this land had looked over it for many, many, many years. And now he was dead, killed by those who sought the secrets of its people. Ayake stared at its mass with wide eyes. What was she going to do now? Ranpu, this land she had known for so long, the one that had taken her in, given her a home, was now....hers? She started to doubt herself, to doubt that this was even real.
A knock rang on her door, echoing on the walls of her new, empty office. Stacks of boxes were strewn here and there along the floor. A large desk was in the back. She stood there with her face to the window, the door behind her. Her eyes did not move from their position. ”Come in.” She could hear the door open behind her as a familiar voice sounded both sharp and feminine. ”Remy, the man you requested, has arrive m’lady.” Ayake nodded and the assistant left the room. She turned around.
Ayake brought her hand up to her mouth, letting out a small chuckle as the man knelt to her. It was a different feeling and it made her slightly uncomfortable. It wasn’t like her to laugh in such hard times for the village, but it seemed to slip out despite her usually serious composure. She spoke, her voice calm and firm, ”There’s no need to bow. You’ve served this village just as much as I have and deserve no less respect!
She paused momentarily, waiting for him to rise to his feet. She walked to a small pillow that sat on the floor. She bent down to sit on it, crossing her legs. Ayake rested her chin on the palm of her hand which was supported by her knee. She looked at him curiously. The lady knew him, but not personally. He was a strong man, built for a bodyguard for which his previous position was. He had protected Itachi. Though she knew it was not his fault that the man was dead. ”I assume you know why I’ve called you.” she said, a sigh escaping her mouth.

She laughed. The sound was sweet…. He knew of Ayake Yaminaka, a Taijutsu specialist who held much respect throughout the village. But Remy had always seen her as a fair but deadly flower and fellow jonin, until recent events. Now she was his Lady, the Leader of his village and he was to lay down his life for her, and he would. But he had a feeling that was not what she desired. He wasn’t exactly sure, but he had a very strong feeling she might, like others, hold him partially responsible for the death of Itachi.
In truth he held himself responsible. He should have been there, despite the orders he had been given he should have been there to die in his masters place. But he hadn’t been, and now here he was. Either to be questioned about the incident yet again, punished, but with the laugh he expected another reason…k he was to be removed from his service as bodyguard to the Ranpugakure Lord. Given the circumstance, he was partially grateful, but to lose the title meant that it had really happened, that Itachi was truly dead. That was far harder to let go of then a title, but that’s what such a thing meant to him.
He rose as she turned herself to walk to a pillow. She sat and he stuck his hands in his pockets, strolling over to the desk, looking out the window a moment before turning to face her and sit on the edge of the desk. He looked at her for a moment, taking her in fully. She was prettier then eh remembered… He held his expression though, calm and almost bored looking as he was notorious for. Nodding slowly once he spoke, ’I have a pretty good feeling….”
He paused for a moment, holding her gaze, then closing his eyes and lowering his head he spoke again after a moment of silence between them. ’Your not Lord Itachi, so you don’t need me. Is that right?” It was a close guess. She might not have felt comfortable with the same bodyguard as the last lord, who coincidently was killed. Maybe she had suspicions he had been apart of it, she could have easily not have trusted him….
Or maybe she just wanted her own hand picked personnel. That made sense as well. It could be anything, but whatever it was, it was still a reminder… his Lord was dead. Itachi…. Was gone.

Ayake looked at the man. It was obvious that he was aware of the situation, her presumption was confirmed at his reply. The Ranpu Lord looked at him seriously. Is that was he thought? That he was being demoted. She could only think of one reason why he would look so glum about the situation. He blamed Lord Itachi’s death on his part, his weakness. She shook her head disappointed. ”Tell me, Remy. Do you honestly believe that the dead of Lord Itachi was your fault? If you do then you believe you had the right to disobey direct orders. In that case, you aren’t worthy as a bodyguard. But as it is, you did obey those orders.” Ayake gave a sincere smile, something she didn’t hand out freely. ”Whether or not you plan to stay, that will be your decision. As for me, you’re welcome to stay as a body guard.”
Her face turned serious, anger not reflecting in her eyes, but more of a warning to the man that sat on her desk, his head down, most likely in shame. ”However, should you disobey a direct order from me, I’ll kill you before I do the enemy.” In her voice, she sounded serious and firm. But in her heart, she would never do such a thing. She believed that disobeying orders was a sign of disrespect. It was a sign of strength to leave one behind as an order rather than disobey their wishes and be weak, letting your emotions get in the way of reality. Lord Itachi was a strong leader, everyone knew that. Why Remy would blame himself on the man’s death was beyond Ayake. But now was not the time to settle all affairs on account of grief. She did not need a body guard who would only think of the past instead of doing his duty in the present and future. Her reply was no so much of a lie. It was to keep Remy’s mind on the right track. She hoped he was fooled by her bluff.
”There is another matter I wished to talk to you about. It is concerning a plan I have in mind for the village.” A smile crossed her face. ”I’m sure you’re aware of the festival coming soon? Well, I’ve made a list of preparations and events that I want looked over.” Ayake stood, walked over to a shelf opposite of the desk and pulled out a stack of papers. Although it was not a lot of paper, the contents themselves was heavy in detail.
”I want this to be a happy time for the village despite the sadness for Lord Itachi’s death. Look over these quickly and let me know if you think it will be appropriate. Shouldn’t take long.” Ayake walked over to the man and handed him the papers.

He stared at her, his expression almost sleepy and bored. But that was just his face, he always seemed as such. He was very much apart of the conversation, attentive and alert. Her words struck deep, and were true. But no matter how it was put, he still felt that he should have, in someway, been able to save his master, or at least had the chance to give his life for him…
But he didn’t let it show. His face was a mask, and emotion was easy enough for him to keep to himself. Although his chin raised when she brought up a different matter. The festival. He was aware of it. It was the season of the Dragon in Ranpugakure.. the cherry blossoms were blossoming and the moon was suppose to be the closest to the planet during this time then it ever was. Meaning every night for 3 nights it’d be full and huge in the sky. It was normally a cheerful time, but Remy had nearly forgotten about it in light of recent events.
He watched her rise… she was a remarkable women… but he blinked, allowing his eyes to stay closed a bit longer to avoid staring at her. He heard the drawer open and opened his eyes once more, taking he paper she was handing him. He wasn’t sure what he’d do about the current “job” assignment, but this would be a nice distraction. He looked into her eyes briefly, then down to the list.
It all seemed wonderful, fireworks, a large parade and the equivalent to a village wide party all three nights on top of many sporting events, for those who fancied them, and demonstrations form some of the more flashy shinobi, and sparing games between genin. It was all great and the list of things went on. It would be costly, but Remy had a feeling it’d be perfect to take the villagers minds off the recent tragedy and help them smile once again.
”Well my lady, this all seems excellent. You have everything in order form what I can see…” he looked back to her, ”I’m sure it’ll bring light to the Land of Darkness. Especially with the recent events casting its shadow on the people. This seems perfect.” He wasn’t sure that else he should do, or if she was putting him in charge of carrying out the will of the paper, but he would soon find out.

Sorry it's short, I don't expect a long reply. Just trying to get this thread out of the way like we planned.
Ayake gave a small smile. Remy was a good shinobi, and a powerful one at that. She had no doubt in her mind that he would make a good bodyguard for her. Yes. He would make a good one indeed. As she sat there, she looked at him. She couldn’t help but wonder if he would accept the offer or not. It was all up to him, in the end. Whether or not he would take up the offer was beyond her. She wouldn’t be sad or disappointed should he reject it. Besides, she was sure that Remy was still down about the death of Itachi. There was no mistaking the glum look on his face, and it almost made her depressed as well. If he should want a break from this whole bodyguard thing, she would of course let him. What was the use of having a bodyguard who is unsure of himself? She looked at him, her eyes reflecting his face. ”Well, do you accept the offer or not?” She waited silently for the answer.
Her plans for Remy were unknown even to her yet. Ayake’s marriage with Shin Kurama was come up incredibly soon. Kurama was the ANBU Captain of Ranpugakure no Sato. He, too, was a very powerful shinobi, one with exceptional powers and dedication to the village. She was considering making him her personal bodyguard. However, the fact that they were so close would probably only makes things that much more difficult for the two of them. With him by her side, she was sure that he would protect her more than what was necessary. He might even land himself a vital blow just to save her. She in no way wanted this. She hoped the man would take the offer, but again, it was up to him.
As for the papers she had handed him, she simply wanted his opinion. She held out her hand gesturing him to return the papers. "I appreciate your feedback!" she smiled once again.
